Registration

  • Workshop facilitator is Linda Dawson. This workshop will concentrate on making marks comprised of dots, lines and shapes made with various tools. The techniques can be used with fabric, paper, clay and many other media. It can be done with brushes, pens, rollers, scribers and needles on fabric, paper, and clay to name a few media. You will be working mostly with fabric.
You will spend the first hour in discussion and in making tools. You will then be working on the fabric and paper with various tools beginning with soy wax crayons and paste. These techniques will require steaming and Linda will either have a steamer available to steam at the workshop or will take the work home with her, steam it and return it at the next regular guild meeting.
Some techniques will be demonstrated and can be done at home. They require the dyes be batched and the fabric rinsed and washed before a second step can be applied. Creating a piece using mark making can be done with one process or can require several layers each completely processed before the next one is applied.
Most of the supplies for this workshop will be furnished and their cost is included in the fee as well as the $15.00 per person fee for the Art Center rental. A supply list is available here. Linda will have copies of the list at the next two meetings of the guild or a copy can be obtained by sending your email address to Linda and she will email you a copy of the supply list
